Dear Friends, The sun felt so delightful on my face as I walked to shul last shabbat. I also noticed that feeling in the air that says summer will soon be in the rearview mirror and fall will be here before we know it. Along with autumn, we'll welcome another High Holy Days in just under six weeks. We look forward to gathering again at Ethical Culture to welcome a new year of life and potential. For those who are still joining us from home, our Ethical Culture services with myself and Cantorial Soloist, Jessica Futran are available on live stream and our
Classic Service with Cantor Emeritus, Bruce Halev is available on zoom. Our Youth Services are offered in person this year as well at Ethical Culture. We'll have ample opportunity for community members to gather outdoors by the pier for Tashlich, and on the steps of Lincoln Center and other places to hear the shofar. Check out our schedule on our website and watch your email for service schedule reminders.
For those who plan to join us for the High Holy Days from home (including S'lichot on Sept. 17), you may register to borrow a copy of Machzor Lev Shalem/High Holy Day Prayer Book. Pick up will take place in the entryway of Congregation Habonim on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 10 - Noon; Monday, Sept. 12 from 9 - 5pm and Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 9 - 5pm. Register HERE for your pick up time. Signature required at pick up to borrow a book. Those who still have copies at home from prior years should please use those.
We'll share updated COVID protocols for gathering later in September. While we understand some will be with us via screen from wherever you are, we do hope many will join us safely in person at Ethical Culture to welcome the new year, from our Erev Rosh Hashanah service on Sunday, Sept. 25 all the way through our youth led parade of lights and final shofar blast on Wednesday evening, October 5.
Enjoy these final weeks of summer and remember to renew your membership and introduce your friends to Congregation Habonim. We look forward to greeting you before long to welcome the new year 5783 with all its potential and opportunity.
b'vracha/blessings,
