A Message from Education Director Rina Cohen Schwarz:
Shalom Parents,
Happy almost-Summer to you all! I am sure some of you are planning for next year, and I look forward to seeing your children back at Habonim’s Religious School in September.
We are in the process of planning for our coming academic year, 5783 (2022-2023), and it’s important to get crucial information from you about your children. Besides basic contact information, we ask for other details, and we appreciate it when you fill in as much information as possible about medical, emotional, learning, and any other details, differences, challenges or concerns your child has. If you’d rather schedule a time to talk about your child(ren), or have other questions/concerns, please let me know.
One of our core Jewish values at Habonim is that of Talmud Torah – the study of Torah. We strive to provide content-rich joyful lessons and programs for our students and families at Habonim.
We continue to offer our refer-a-friend bonus tuition incentive program. We know that our member families are the BEST source of bringing in new members to our congregation. If your family brings in a new member family and they enroll their child(ren) in our Religious School, your family will get $180 off of your total tuition bill, and you can earn more than one bonus if you bring in more than one family (earn up to 2 bonuses). Only one bonus can be earned per new family brought in. Please email me if you have any questions, or want to connect me with potential members.
Please complete the registration form for 2022-23 at this link. The form allows for entry of information for up to 3 children per family. Membership in the synagogue is required to enroll your child in our Religious School.
Gimmel, Dalet & Hei (3rd, 4th & 5th Grades):
- Class is on Mondays, 4:00 – 5:55pm
- One individualized online Hebrew session (Habonim’s Hebrew online Program - HHoP) per week for the year (20-24 total sessions - to be scheduled after the High Holidays)
- Tuition is $2600 per student
Vav (6th Grade) & Zayin (7th Grade):
- Class is on Mondays 6:00 - 7:35 pm
- One individualized online Hebrew session (Habonim’s Hebrew online Program - HHoP) per week for the year (20-24 total sessions - to be scheduled after the High Holidays)
- Tuition is $2600 per student
- With Bar/Bat Mitzvah on the horizon for all of these students, we want your family to become more familiar with our Shabbat services, and be fully connected to the Habonim community. As such, we require your family (your Vav/Zayin student together with at least one parent) to attend a minimum of 1-2 Shabbat services every month at Habonim (a minimum of ten Friday evening or Saturday morning Habonim services - especially our B’nai Mitzvah services). We expect that our Vav/Zayin families will celebrate the B’nai Mitzvah of Habonim, and will plan to attend (in person or virtually) our B’nai Mitzvah services through the year (full schedule to follow).
Lomdim (8th -12th Grades)
- Meets monthly on Wednesday evenings
- Tuition is $450 per student
Congregation Habonim fully supports that every member child should be able to have a Jewish education. We have financial assistance available for families who need it. Please email Grace Rosas, our bookkeeper if you need more information about this.
L'shalom,
Rina
