Religious School Classes & Programs

Pre-Gan (Pre-K), Gan (Kindergarten), Aleph (1st grade) and Bet (2nd grade) ($2850)

*Special first day schedule on September 9, 2025: class from 4:00-5:00 followed by Curriculum Information Session for students and parents from 5:00-5:45

Pre-Gan (Pre-K) & Gan (Kindergarten) Curriculum

  • Holidays – experiential learning with reinforcement in song and art projects
  • Torah – B’reisheet and Sh’mot (through the Passover story) taught with stories, songs, arts/crafts and activities
  • Jewish symbols – basic symbols including Mezuzah, Torah, Kippah, Ner Tamid and ritual objects
  • Hebrew – recognizing familiar letters and words, basic conversational vocabulary
  • Weekly Tefillah (parents welcome)
  • Special programming, including holiday cooking

Aleph (1st grade) and Bet (2nd grade) Curriculum 

  • Holidays in story, song, activities, art, food.
  • Hebrew basics – letter recognition, early reading, common words
  • Torah - B’reisheet and Sh’mot (through the Passover story) taught with stories, songs, arts/crafts and activities
  • Introduction to Tanach – beginning prophets and Kings
  • Jewish symbols – hands-on projects including Kippah, Mezuzah, Tzedakah box
  • Weekly Tefillah (parents welcome)
  • Special holiday programming, including games, cooking, entertainment

Gimmel (3rd grade), Dalet (4th grade), Hei (5th grade) ($3,250)
Monday 4:00-5:55

**Includes one individualized Hebrew online session per week (20-24 total sessions)

Gimmel (3rd Grade) Curriculum

  • Torah review of B’reisheet and Sh’mot with puzzles, games, projects and active learning
  • Prophets – Introduction to Tanach
  • Holidays – age-appropriate approach to Jewish holidays with music and projects
  • Jewish Heroes and folklore – special programming for 3rd-5th graders
  • Hebrew – Small group lessons (approx. 4-5 students/class)
  • One-on-one online Hebrew instruction with child’s Monday teacher
  • Israeli culture with Shinshinit
  • Weekly Tefillah + opportunity to lead Kabbalat Shabbat service (April 17 and May 29)

Dalet (4th Grade) & Hei (5th Grade) Curriculum

  • Holidays – age-appropriate approach to Jewish holidays with music, activities and projects
  • Modern Jewish History
  • Beginning Jewish Lifecycle
  • Jewish Heroes and folklore – special programming for 3rd-5th graders
  • Hebrew – Conversational - Small group lessons (approx. 4-5 students/class)
  • One-on-one online prayerbook Hebrew instruction with child’s Monday teacher
  • Israeli culture with Shinshinit
  • Weekly Tefillah + opportunity to lead Kabbalat Shabbat service (March 20 and May 29)

Vav (6th grade), Zayin (7th grade) ($3,250)
Monday 6:00-7:45

*Special first day schedule on September 8, 2025: class from 6:00-7:00 followed by Curriculum Information Session for students and parents from 7:00-7:45

**Includes one individualized Hebrew online session per week (20-24 total sessions)

**With bar or bat mitzvah on the horizon, we encourage Vav and Zayin students with at least one adult to attend weekly Shabbat services to become familiar with what will happen on the big day and build connections with our supportive community.

Vav/Zayin Curriculum 

 

  • Holocaust Education (7 weeks) – beginning with roots of anti-Semitism, and bringing a voice to those who died and those who survived. 
  • Modern Israel (7 weeks)
  • Judaism 101 (7 weeks) – answering students’ big questions about Judaism
  • Hebrew
    • Small group lessons learning B’nai Mitzvah prayers
    • Torah Trope sessions 
  • Tefillah – reflecting prayers that students need to learn for B’nai Mitzvah led by Rabbi and /or Cantor + opportunity to lead Kabbalat Shabbat service (December 12 for 7th grade and January 23 for 6th grade and May 29)
  • Special programming includes holiday celebrations, Torah rolling with Rabbi/Cantor, Lower East Side tour, Holocaust survivor speaker
  • Snack and shmooze time

Families registering three or more children in Nursery School, Religious School, and/or Lomdim will receive a ten percent discount on Religious School tuition and Lomdim fees.
