Support Congregation Habonim on Giving Tuesday, December 1

Description: double chai

December 1 is #GivingTuesday!

On this special day for giving, we hope that you will remember Congregation Habonim with a special “chai” donation.  We appreciate that this has been a difficult year for many of us, emotionally and financially, and that you have many opportunities to contribute on Giving Tuesday.  If you endorse Habonim’s mission to build Jewish community together, please consider a gift of $18 (chai, which means life), or $36 (double chai) on behalf of each member of your household.  We hope this amount is within reach for most, and you don’t need to wait for December 1 to participate in #GivingTuesday.  Click HERE to make a chai or double chai donation.

Your contribution will support these key priorities and more:

  • We have created an all new slate of virtual prayer, education and social events that have allowed us to stay engaged and open, even with our building closed.  In addition to Shabbat and holiday services that our community and supporters can join from anywhere, we added virtual teen programming to keep our post-b’nai mitzvah members connected to each other and to Habonim.
  • Remote opportunities for adult education included our Torah on Tuesdays, book clubs, and guest speakers on topics such as “El Camino … The Journey to Judaism,” “Kristallnacht Commemoration,” and “Light Against Darkness.”   Your funding will enable us to offer even more programming in 2021.
  • We are planning to install hardware and software to support livestreaming from our sanctuary to provide more opportunity for the community to come together spiritually while physically apart.
  • Our safe and successful Nursery School reopening this fall was made possible by our financial investment in individual learning materials for each student, personal protective equipment for teachers and maintenance staff, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols, and plexiglass barriers.
  • In furtherance of our core Jewish values, we have endeavored to continue employment for as much of our staff as possible.  Like many synagogues and not for profit institutions, we implemented some furloughs and reduced hours in 2020 and hope to minimize this need throughout the economic downturn.

To affirm our shul and help us secure our financial future, a chai or double chai gift from each individual Habonim member and supporter will make a difference.  Of course, if you are able, a gift in any amount you find meaningful will be accepted with gratitude.  Click HERE to participate in #GivingTuesday.
