End of Year Appeal

As 2020 draws to a close, we are so grateful to the many members and friends who have enabled Congregation Habonim to carry out our mission of building Jewish community together, even as the world changed around us this year. If you have not had an opportunity to contribute yet or would like to do more before year-end, it’s not too late -- please click HERETo all of our Committee members and other volunteers, as well as our generous financial donors: Thank you, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Your contributions of time and money this year have helped our clergy and staff reimagine prayer and learning in a virtual environment. We went on-line, caught glimpses of each other’s homes, and stayed spiritually close even when we had to be physically distanced. Longtime members Dail Stolow and Norbert Fruehauf told us that it was “invaluable” to be able to attend remotely Habonim’s quality Adult Ed programs, which not only furthered their “insights about various aspects of Judaism” but were also “critical to maintain connection” and allow congregants and friends “to see and hear each other” through the year’s challenges. New streaming capabilities in our sanctuary will allow Habonim to offer even more in 2021.

Your contributions also supported our Nursery School Director, Tina Lobel, and her teachers and staff as Habonim implemented a safe and successful fall semester. Many parents shared how much it has meant to their families to have school open this fall.  Nursery School mom Sharon Suchotliff let us know that her child is "flourishing" and comes home every day speaking "joyfully ... about her adventures at school, her friends, and especially her teachers."

There are many ways that you can still make a charitable gift in 2020:
  • On-line donation --  click HERE
  • Checks – please mail to Congregation Habonim c/o Kesef Accounting Services, P.O. Box 418, Montvale, NJ 07645
  • Appreciated securities – if held more than a year, you may be entitled to a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the shares (without triggering capital gains) regardless of how much you paid for them.
  • IRA rollover – if you are over age 70½, you can make a gift directly from your IRA that may reduce your taxable income.
  • To make a gift of securities or from an IRA, please contact our bookkeeper Grace Rosas at grosas@habonim.net . Please consult your tax advisor about your individual circumstances.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and for being part of our sacred community.  We wish you and your family peace and good health in 2021, and hope that the coming year brings us together in person.
