The Hostomice Scroll and the Memorial Scrolls Trust

"We have a responsibility to past generations, to keep their memory alive and to ensure that the lessons from the Shoah are remembered."

Congregation Habonim is a proud caretaker of the Hostomice Scroll, a precious legacy of the Jews of Bohemia and Moravia, in the Czech Republic, who perished in the Shoah. The Hostomice Scroll is #853 of the close to 1,600 scrolls that are a part of the Memorial Scrolls Trust. This Torah has been in our possession since the mid-1960s.

Through these scrolls we pledge to remember European Jewish life before the Holocaust, as well as its tragic destruction, to challenge those who interact with the scrolls to confront prejudice and hatred, and to inspire them to action by committing to their Jewish lives and working to build bridges across communities.
