Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Bar/Bat Mitzvah marks a transition from childhood toward adulthood on many levels. Over the course of nine months, students study with a tutor and work directly with Cantorial Soloist Jessica (Futran) Scheinman, and complete a community service project to instill Jewish values.

Each Bar/Bat Mitzvah student leads the Congregation in the Shabbat morning service, reads Torah, and shares an original D'var Torah. As a neighborhood synagogue, we're able to space out our B'nai Mitzvah service schedule so each of our B'nai Mitzvah students has a date all their own to read and lead!
