Introduction

NURSERY SCHOOL AT HABONIM

At the Nursery School at Habonim, our hallways resonate with the joyful sounds of children’s voices as they experience the excitement of learning and making new friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Childhood is an adventurous time during which children start to open up to the world’s wonders. The Nursery School at Habonim nurtures preschoolers through a sound educational program that embraces, enlightens, and educates at every step of the way. The goal of our School is to promote the well being and the development of each child. We wish to foster self esteem, confidence as a learner, a basic trust in caring adults, and an awareness of the feelings and needs of others. In addition, we wish to help children experience the joy of being Jewish by participating in the customs and celebrations of the Jewish religion.

HISTORY

The Nursery School at Habonim was founded in 1997 to ensure the continuation of Congregation Habonim and to keep the memories upon which it was built alive. Congregation Habonim was established in 1939 by refugees from the Holocaust in an effort to rebuild the devastated German Jewish community and affirm their faith in the future. Congregation Habonim is particularly devoted to the idea of educating the youngest children in our community.
