Rosh Chodesh Group

According to the Midrash, Rosh Chodesh (the new moon and the beginning of the Hebrew month) is a holiday especially for women. Women were granted this holiday because, when the Israelite men were building the Golden Calf, the women refused to take part. As a reward for their piety, Jewish women have a special obligation to socialize, eat a festive meal, and reflect on their spiritual needs. Join Rabbi Laurie Phillips and the women of Congregation Habonim each month for conversation, dinner and learning as we celebrate the new month. For more information, contact Elizabeth Bernhardt through the synagogue office.
